GLUTEN FREE

Gluten free diets seems like a fairy tale you tell many people in Kenya.
Most people just can't fathom having breakfast without their beloved donuts, chapatis(flat bread)or the usual store bought bread.

But that is because most people don't realise the dangers of eating gluten laden foods. The fact that we crave it tells us that it is not a very good option especially if you are dieting as it will leave you craving for more. Also it has been linked to many disorders of brain like autism, schizophrenia and a rare form of epilepsy.

So i have decided to come up with recipes for gluten free diets especially for breakfast as that is the time that most of us tend to eat foods rich in gluten. It is obvious that if you start the day with a gluten rich diet, then you will crave it the entire day.

Our first gluten free food is butternut brownies:

Ingredients:
  • One butternut skinned, boiled and mashed with the seeds in.
  • Unsweetend cocoa.
  • Sultans(dried grapes).
  • Sesame seeds.
Directions:
  1. In a bowl mix together all the ingredients until they are all covered in the cocoa.
  2. Take a tin and line it with cling film.
  3. Pour in all the ingredients in the tin with the cling film.
  4. Cover the mixture and push it downwards with your fist to make it all flat then, you can cut it to bite size pieces.
This can be a good accompaniment to breakfast or something you can pack for your little ones as they go to school.
